About Me
As mentioned in the description above, my name is Lucy Bladen and I am studying journalism and international studies. I am 21 years old and I aspire to be a foreign correspondent someday.
A good work ethic is something to be valued and something of which I exemplify. I endeavour to try my best in any work I am given, whether that be an assignment, exam, an article or at my workplace. Optimism is a characteristic which I feel I embody. I try to make the best out of every situation.
One of my strengths is my communication skills, whether it be spoken or written. All jobs I have undertaken have required great customer engagement and through this I have learnt how to effectively converse. My writing ability is evident through examples of my work and posts to this blog and my other blog - Remnants of Reflection.
I am competent in using a range of programs on the computer to edit videos, photos, HTML and illustrator. This is greatly important in this day and age, particularly in the communication industry. I have also created a number of videos in the past through media studies at both school and university.
I have a strong leadership ability, I was in a number of leadership roles at school and I am currently the Vice-President of the UC Press Club.
My career aspiration is to be a foreign correspondent, ideally I would like to do this as a freelance journalist. In the long term I hope to set up my own publishing company and create a magazine based on foreign affairs. I am passionate about international relations and I believe that in Australia news outlets need to put a greater emphasis on this.
